Rooted in Legacy, Carried Through Time
Every piece holds a story—of where we come from, who we honor, and what we choose to remember.
Golden Dragon® was created as a heartfelt tribute to my mother, Bernice Ai, in celebration of her 90th birthday. Launched in 2024—fittingly, the Year of the Dragon—this site honors her lifelong dedication to family, heritage, and the art of meaningful curation. It represents a bridge between generations, blending the past and present through a collection of Orientalia antiques, vintage pieces, and modern art.
This is where the story of the Golden Dragon Gift Shop began in 1970 in Glenview, Illinois. Inspired by the triumph of the 1969 Taiwan Little League World Champions—The Golden Dragons—the name was a tribute to pride, perseverance, and cultural identity. The shop later evolved into Golden Dragon Oriental Imports, becoming a beloved destination for those seeking beautiful, handpicked treasures from the East. To explore our family’s full journey and my mother’s remarkable legacy, we invite you to visit the History and About the Family tabs—a timeline crafted with love, care, and deep respect.
Bernice Ai (née Feng Chi Ren, 馮紀潤), daughter of Feng Pei Ping (馮百平) was born in 1934 (Mingguo 23) in Henan, China. She was raised in a family that revered education, culture, art and legacy. Her father was a government official, intellectual, prolific writer and calligrapher. Bernice’s fondest memories of him were of his teaching, coaching and critiquing her writing, both in content and calligraphy.
In 1969, Bernice took her daughter, Bernardine (Xiao Yi) on a family visit to Taiwan. Feng Pei Ping gave a few items to help Bernice start the store in Glenview, IL.
